and this… {c’est moi}

I’ve been thinking about different ways that I can do this. Tell you a little bit more about me. I know there are a lot of memes out there that have memorable names like ‘Ten on Tuesday’ but for some reason I just can’t bring myself to really do that every week. Maybe I don’t want to feel limited by day or number. Maybe I just don’t want to join the crowd. Who knows? So… this is going to be different and sometimes random. But then you knew that, right?!

Today, I’m feeling the urge to share a list. So here’s ten things you may not already know about me:

1. My name means journey or voyage in Arabic. My grandmother named me and I miss her everyday.

2. I was born in Tanzania, which is also where my mother is from. I have a ton of cousins, uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, my grandfather and a brother there.

3. I grew up all over the world. Literally.

4. Reading is and has always been one of my absolute favourite things to do. I adore it. It’s an escape, an opening, a connection, a bringing back to self. It’s wondrous.

5. I read very fast.

6. I tend to speak like the person I’m speaking to. It’s completely subconscious and I have to think hard to not do it.

7. I LOVE Ben & Jerry Cinnamon Buns ice-cream. In fact, it’s a bit of an illness, so we may have to stay away from each other this year while I’m working on my health and fitness. Seriously.

8. I think everything in life is a statement about yourself and your purpose. What you do or don’t do, what you say or don’t say, what you wear, think, feel, surround yourself with, all of it.

9. Sunrises and sunsets remind me that it’s possible to do the exact same thing every day and have it be beautiful and different each time.

10. I moved to the US in 2004 to be with the man I love. I had never imagined that I’d wind up living here. Some of my friends are still in shock.

I love your blog. You’ve grown. I love how growth makes you seem different, and more you at the same time. Number 9 is my favourite. Made me stop and feel.
I love you. Where are you today?

hey! Thanks. It makes me stop and feel too. Love you SO much and can’t wait to see you. Whenever that is. Hoping it’s sooner rather than later. I’m at home, working and mothering… will be hiking in a bit.

Ajira, I LOVE this post and really enjoyed reading a bit more about you! You’ve inspired me to do the same in my blog, be more personal, as it really connects your readers! I would love to know more about you and where you lived? I also grew up moving around a lot! So much in common 🙂

Great getting to know more about you, Ajira!

We have a lot in common. I love reading and tend to read fast, too!

So, do you pick up the other’s person accent when you are talking to them? I have a bad habit of doing that (blush). 🙂

Leave some love or just let me know what's on your mind!!
