ABOUT Ajira
I'm interested in what becomes possible when our work supports our lives, too.
I'm Ajira Darch - full spectrum birthworker, liberation strategist, educator, and creative working at the intersections of care, liberation, and livelihood.
I've spent years supporting families, birthworkers, and community-rooted organizations, and I've seen what happens when people are given a calling but not the resources, systems, or support to do the work on their own terms. We're told to follow our passion, show up for our communities, and figure out the rest along the way.
I think we deserve better than that.
My work brings together practical strategy, community wisdom, and a commitment to collective liberation. I help birthworkers navigate money, pricing, capacity, and the decisions that shape their practices. I work with organizations to develop programs, strengthen systems, and turn big ideas into meaningful action.
I'm the creator of Know Your Numbers™, a guided financial-planning tool that helps birthworkers understand their expenses, income needs, pricing, and earning potential. I also created Birthworker Launch Lab to help birthworkers put those insights into practice with guidance, feedback, and a plan for what comes next.
My approach is grounded in reproductive justice, harm reduction, and the belief that we don't have to accept exhaustion as the price of meaningful work. Sometimes we need better systems. Sometimes we need to ask different questions, and sometimes we just need the freedom (or permission) to want something different altogether.
I'm here for work that makes room for our values, our material needs, our creativity, and our actual lives.
